Heavy 22k Band by Mermod and Jaccard c. 1890

Founded in 1829, Jaccard Jewelry was the self-proclaimed “grandest jewelry establishment in the world” - or at least the grandest in St. Louis, Missouri, their hometown. They merged with A.S.Mermod, another Victorian-era jewelry company, to become Jaccard and Mermod in 1864.

As business boomed, they expanded and opened stores abroad in London, Sheffield, Birmingham, Vienna, and Paris. In 1904 they produced and designed the medals for the Olympic Games (held in St. Louis).

Dated 1890, the year that the ballet Sleeping Beauty, with music by Tchaikovsky-premiered in Russia. Van Gogh died at age 37. The Picture of Dorian Gray is published by Oscar Wilde. Idaho and Wyoming were admitted as the 43rd and 44th states.

How incredible is it to have the opportunity to wear a piece of history, 134 years young?
